Download Tracker

Download counts, dated snapshots and charts of downloads over time for the Obsidian community plugins and themes you publish.

Download Tracker is an Obsidian community plugin for people who publish community plugins and themes. It shows how many times each of your plugins and themes has been downloaded, how that has changed over time, and when each release went out, all inside Obsidian.

It finds your projects in Obsidian's community directory from your GitHub username, keeps dated snapshots of the counts, and draws the history as charts, with nothing else to install.

Core features

  • Finds every plugin and theme in Obsidian's community directory that belongs to your GitHub accounts, and shows each one's downloads, the change since your last snapshot, subtotals and a combined total.
  • Saves dated snapshots of the counts, by command or automatically once a day, and fills in plugin history back to each plugin's first appearance in the directory.
  • Charts downloads by project, new downloads per period and total downloads over time, filtered by date range, type and name, with every release marked.
  • Optional columns for downloads per version, GitHub stars, open issues and pull requests, and first and latest release dates.
  • Writes the history to a note as a Markdown table, or copies a plain-text summary to share.

Install

In Obsidian, open Settings → Community plugins → Browse, search for Download Tracker, then choose Install and Enable. Or open the plugin's page on the Obsidian community site and choose Add to Obsidian. Download Tracker needs Obsidian 1.13 or later, on desktop or mobile. A GitHub token is optional: without one, GitHub allows 60 requests an hour, which is enough for a handful of plugins.

Good for

  • Plugin and theme developers: See every project's downloads in one place instead of checking each listing by hand.
  • Release planning: Compare downloads before and after each release to see what made a difference.
  • Sharing progress: Drop a summary table into a note, a changelog or a post.
