Neutral grey surfaces, steel blue title bars and full two-pixel relief — the 1990 redesign that introduced the three-dimensional gadget.

Modern Amiga Workbench 2.04 inspired Obsidian theme is an Obsidian theme drawn from the 1990 redesign, the release where Workbench grew its third dimension. The blue desktop of 1.x gives way to a neutral grey, and every control gains relief: buttons that stand raised off the surface, fields that sit recessed into it, all lit consistently from the upper left. Steel blue marks the title bars and the selection. Both a light and a dark appearance are included, and the dark one keeps the relief rather than flattening it.

Core features

  • The full two-pixel relief of the 1990 style guide: raised gadgets, recessed fields, lit from the upper left.
  • Neutral grey surfaces with steel blue title bars and selection, the palette that replaced 1.x’s four screen colours.
  • Roomier spacing and larger controls than 1.3, without the extra frame step that 3.x later added.
  • A dark appearance that stays deliberately colour-neutral, which is what separates it from 3.1 in low light.

Good for

  • Users who like dimensional interfaces: Every control reads as a physical object you can press.
  • Long editing sessions: Neutral grey is the least assertive of the three backgrounds.
  • Anyone who used an A3000 or a hard-drive A500: This is the Workbench of the early 1990s.

Installing

The theme is a single theme.css file with a manifest.json beside it. Download both from the latest release, place them in YourVault/.obsidian/themes/Modern Amiga Workbench 2.04 inspired/, then choose the theme under Settings → Appearance. It needs no plugins and loads no remote assets, so it works offline.
