Discogs Music Sync for Obsidian

Your Discogs record collection in Obsidian: a note for every record, a dashboard and a library.

Discogs Music Sync is an Obsidian community plugin that brings your Discogs record collection into your vault.

Every record becomes a note you can annotate and link, and a dashboard and library show the whole collection at a glance: what you own, what it is worth, and how it has grown.

Core features

  • A note for every record: cover and photos, tracklist with track lengths, label, catalogue number, country, format, genres, styles, condition and Discogs prices.
  • Lyrics links: each track links to its lyrics on Genius where a match is found.
  • Bases by format: Vinyl, CD, Cassette and any other format in your collection each get their own folder, tag and place in the library.
  • Safe syncing: a sync only adds records and never rewrites your notes. Records you remove from Discogs are moved aside, never deleted.
  • Collection dashboard: thirteen sections covering value, growth over time, the market, pressings, decades, top artists, playing time, buying, listening and condition.
  • Browsable library: a gallery of covers, by genre, a catalogue table or a value table, with search and sorting.
  • Your currency: prices, values and charts in any currency Discogs prices in.
  • PDF export: save the dashboard as a PDF in the paper size and orientation you choose.

Good for

  • Record collectors: notes on pressings, condition and where each record came from, next to the Discogs data.
  • Knowing what it is worth: the collection's value and how it is spread across your records, kept up to date with a price refresh.
  • Listening and buying: what you bought when, where from, and what still needs filling in.

Requirements

  • Obsidian 1.13 or later, on desktop (macOS, Windows or Linux).
  • A Discogs account and a personal access token.
  • Optional: a Genius access token, for lyrics links.

Privacy

Your tokens are kept in Obsidian's secret storage on your device, never in your notes. The plugin talks only to Discogs and, if you add a token, Genius.
